Munsell Quote

"In a two or three-demenisonal design, when cool colors are placed next to or surrounding warm colors, the warm hues appear to be closer to the viewer whereas the cool hues appear further away."
I found it interesting that certain colors (warm) appear closer to the eye when surrounded by cool colors. It wasn't something that i had necessarily paid attention to before until reading this, then it was when I realized why warm are so prominent.

Project 1: Abstract Painting

The color I choose for my abstract painting is magenta. As a warm primary color, like red, it naturally stands out more than other colors, immediately grabbing your attention. Because of this, when it is surrounded by cool colors, it is the most prominent. When white is added, soft, delicate tints of white develop and when black is added, it creates deep shades of purple.
